Getting to Know…Chef Mike Eldershaw

Chef Mike Eldershaw, what can I say?  He is a wonderful chef, human being, and daddy.  His face lights up when talk is geared towards the kitchen.  Without further ado, let me introduce Chef Michael!

BOX-OFFICE GLENDA:

Hey Mike, it is great having you as an integral part of the MTCC’s culinary team!  You bring a unique style to our kitchen, with your down-to-earth approach to cooking a broad variety of tasty dishes.  We want to get to know you better!

I know you have very busy days in Kiju’s kitchen, and it probably gets busy at home as well with a young child.  Share with us some of your relaxation techniques.

CHEF MIKE:

(laughs) Relaxation! Hmm, well, I like to take walks with my son and my dog.  And I love a good binge TV watching evening.

Sounds like great ways to unwind after a long week!

BOX-OFFICE GLENDA:

What are some of your dreams or hopes for the future, you are after all, still a young man.

CHEF MIKE:

I would like to own my own restaurant one day, and would love the opportunity to travel more.

Mike’s eyes are shining! I can almost see the dreams reflecting in them, how cool, I hope all your hopes and dreams come true Mike!

BOX-OFFICE GLENDA:

What are some of your favourite memories from childhood?  And do you plan on recreating those with your son?

CHEF MIKE:

I am from out west originally, growing up, my favourite memories involve travelling with my family. We travelled out here to the east coast a lot. I am trying to do the same with my son, but going west instead.

That’s fantastic Mike, travelling makes so many wonderful memories, I am sure your son will look back some day and smile.

BOX-OFFICE GLENDA:

Describe the best party you ever attended.

CHEF MIKE:

Elkridge resort, hands down!  Great times, great people. It is where I met my wife.  We used to do something different for parties, we would have Halloween in the summer, or an icebreaker.  Great memories for sure.

Sounds like fun!

BOX-OFFICE GLENDA:

What is something you have always wanted to do, but lack the time or circumstance have prevented you from doing?

CHEF MIKE:

I have wanted to go on Chopped Canada forever!  But every time, something happens and it gets away from me.  One of these days I WILL do it!

I will be planted in front of the TV cheering you on!

BOX-OFFICE GLENDA:

That was great Mike!  Thanks so much for taking a few minutes to answer my questions.  We hope you are a member of the MTCC team for a long time, at least until your dream of opening your own restaurant has been realized!

This is Box-Office Glenda signing off until next time.  Please like us on Face Book and follow us on Twitter.
